Benjamin Kanes is an actor, writer, director, producer and dabbler in other various forms of creative expression, as well an occasional teacher.

Some highlights of his acting career include the films “My Blueberry Nights” directed by Chinese film auteur Wong Kar Wai (Benjamin is one of only a handful of American and British actors ever to have worked with director. Others include Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Rachel Weisz and David Strathairn, on the same project.) “The Other Guys” with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, directed by improv legend Adam McKay.

A huge fan of the horror genre, other credits include independent horror films “Scary Tales 2” and “Bacterium” and the soon to be released “Morning After”. On television Benjamin has worked with Comedy Central – “Michael & Michael Have Issues” and “Big Lake”, as well as “Celebrity Apprentice” season 11, and a number a commercials.

Stage performances include work at The Wilma, Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Workshop, Michael Chekhov Theatre Co in NYC, and DCT in Rochester, NY where Benjamin originated the role of Danny Blue in the wonderfully written “Ava” by playwright Bonnie Corso.

As a writer, director, producer Benjamin has been involved in many productions including short films, features and theatre productions- Coriolis (winner Best Cinematography, Philadelphia 48 Hour Film Festival) Catalyst: IZZY, Triptych, Ritalin Theatre, Pas de Lumiere (winner Best Production Design, National Film Challenge) He was a co-founding Artistic Director of award-winning production company UNCUT Productions, a frequent collaborator of award-winning Liberty Bell Films, and the Managing Director of The Mainline Film Festival. Benjamin currently has several projects in various stages of production.

As a teacher Benjamin has had the distinct opportunity to mold, mend and warp the minds of actors and artists young and old. His educational stylings have been experienced at The McCarter Theatre (a Princeton University affiliate),  The Philadelphia Shakespeare Company, Montgomery Theatre Co, as well as many PA, NJ, NY and DE elementary, middle and high schools, his favorite of which is most certainly Johnson Park Elementary in Princeton, NJ.
